DAYTONA OPTOMAP RETINAL SCAN
The scanner allows for a 200º view of the retina or 80% of the retina – the scan checks the peripheral retina for hemorrhages, retinal tears, holes or thinning. This is the only technology that will allow this view. It also has the ability to provide these views with autofluorescence. An inflammatory substance can accumulate in cells that will cause the cells to fluoresce when excited with a certain light and these cells can be viewed with this technology. This can help to detect early stages of macular degeneration. These images are stored in the electronic record and can be used for future reference to monitor for change or progression.
